Volcanic Ash

Volcanic Ash by Angela Prew

A small island, rural,
lying north of Scotland,
its people unambitious,
farmers mainly,
exploded financially
causing consternation
and bankruptcy in far off lands.
As now, again, a quiet
volcano, unpronouceable,
has blown its top,
spewng ash and grounding planes,
marooning millions globally;
tycoons and teachers
musicians, actors and holidaymakers,
unable to pay their bills,
children missing school, exams,
and the sick needing operations.
This small island,
quiet, unambitious,
has erupted, disrupting
the busy, bustling
self-important world.
