I have been looking for you

by Kerry Hammerton

Do you remember how
we pulled those
orange deck-chairs
onto the middle of the lawn,
wrapped ourselves
in blankets stolen
from our hotel rooms,
just so that we could gaze
at the rising moon and stars
and talk? We held hands
until the sun came up.
I deserve you now,
not then,
now.
